Austria - Styria swastika wall painting

[08/30/2003] Artists from Byzanz created around 1250-1280, in the Roman St.-Johannes chapel Purgg among others, a swastika wand painting. Purgg is a very small mountain village in the Styria, Liezen district, Austria; a bourg and church town not far from the mouth of the Grimmingtals in then Ennstal.

The church is known under the name «Johannes chapel in Purgg/Steiermark». From the description of the godhouse: «St.-Johannes-Chapel with historical architecture special meaning frescos (around 1160–65, among others displaying «Cat-and-Mouse-war»); parish church, a gothic rebuild, original roman arrow basilica with gothic Frescocyclus (around 1300), statue and glass paintings.»
