Germany - Ancient customs building

[08/27/2004] In a small german town in Niedersachsen there is an old customs building with a swastika on the walls. The swastika is decorated with 4 Germanic runes. When we took the photo, the owner of the building was suspicious. Other visitors had urged him to remove the swastika, but he refused. We are grateful for his help in preserving a piece of history. These runes stand for fidelity, truthfulness, willpower, inner peace, and faith. Here the Swastika is held in good spirits, and denotes: start every day anew and do not stray from the right path.

A rough interpretation of these 4 runes is as follows:

TIWAZ (Tir) is associated with the God "Tyr" who is responsible for world order, justice, and the victory of law. TIWAZ stands for unshaking determination and the willingness to make sacrifices for others. TIWAZ is also the polar star, which guides travelers in fog and darkness.

URUZ (Ur) in German Mythology is associated with the original cow, "Audhumla", meaning an untamed, wild way of accomplishing things through the force of will and determination. URUZ denotes the mother of manifestation, of wisdom, the wisdom of the earth. URUZ creates the soil for powerful deeds, stamina, and vitality. This rune also stands for the inner power to make dreams reality, and its responsibility.

THURISAZ (Thorn) represents giants, or the God "Thor", primarily Thor's destructive hammer and the giant's instinctive, aggressive and destructive power. THURISAZ means a giant's power of defense, or destructive power as in thunder and lightning, but it also can stand for inner power, and the power to overcome any obstacle.

ANSUZ (Ansur) is Odin's rune ANSUZ stands for great mystery. It is related to divine wisdom and communication with the gods; the spiritual power of the life force and its communication through language.

Everyone can interpret this for him or herself. It seems that the swastika in this instance was a sign that stands for purity, and divine Power, attributed by ancient civilizations to the Gods.

This sign is a cosmic religious sign and never and by no means a political symbol.
