The Netherlands - Old hand pump
[02/01/2004] Here is an old hand pump probably used to pump away the water when there was a flood. This pump can be found in Wageningen in an old house that was build in 1922.
What it is exactly is not known to us, however it is a beautiful WAN-Symbol (chinese symbol for 10.000). In this way, this symbol can be found on all kind of machines, like sewing machines and others with hand-turning-wheels.
