Swastika in the seal of H. P. Blavatsky

[10/19/2003] This personal seal was used by H.P.B. on her writing papers. The symbols used are a part of the universal mystic language and have nothing in common with modern uses. The symbols in her seal were used in an altered form in the seal of the Theosophical society.

Device of the Theosophical society:

"No religion is higher than the truth"

What does the word Theosophy actually mean?
"Theosophy" comes from the Greek "Theos" and "sophia" meaning literally "Divine Knowledge". It is a body of knowledge - accumulated since time immemorial - that answers the great questions of life - Who am I, Where am I going, What am I doing here, What is the nature of the soul, What is the origin of the universe and What can be said about the nature of divinity.
(according to: Bertelsmann Universallexikon)

Description according to contemporary:

"Sphinx of the nineteenth century"

A proof of its relevance also in our modern times comes from the facts, that the year 1991 was proclaimed by the UNESCO as a year of the memory of the work of H. P. Blavatsky.
